I agree. Like Dragon stomp and earthquake, in dragon stop theres dragon head poping out, in earthquake the ground at the enemy's area should shake and break abit, but will disapear after few mins. IMO

Give me the reason why plz!
You don't think GW enviroment is not shiny enough? LOL
Beside it will surely create lags as well as video req / RAM for the game. Yes that means Anet pocket will be less. They will say no lol! No need to ask!

I see all you people crying about lag but just about every single MMO (and especially asian ones) have far more awesome animations and deal with the lag just fine. No one says you have to run the game on max settings if your box is a piece of 5-year old crap but for those of us with high-end machines seeing some flash is a must, otherwise there's no point in having one. Besides, fact of the matter is that pretty games attract more people, hence more flash -> more eye-candy hoes -> more money for A.net.

Ignorance FTL on this thread. Anet can put super duper graphics and flashy effects into their game if it makes it look better, provided that they can be turned down or switched off. You have a slow PC? Good for you, turn the settings down then. Some people have high end PCs that currently run GW over 60 FPS. Im pretty sure these players expect a lot more from GW2. I personally an expecting GW2 to look better then AoC and Oblivion combined.

While it would be nice to see a large mushroom cloud go up after I nuke a target, not realy going to happen unless there is an on/off switch for it to help out slower computers.
Another small point is that mostly these effects would benifit casters, not a lot of warrior/ranger/sin/dervish/paragon skills could have any animation without looking far to cartoonish.

Go play City of Heroes.
Spell effects there are so flashy, that when there are more than 3 people in a party you CANT SEE your opponent. Or anything else besides your back, for that matter.

A party of 8 casting 64 skills, and a group of 5 mobs casting 20 skills, 80+ skill animations going off in minutes, 80+ FLASHY skill animations going off in minutes... /not freaking signed

I'm not exactly sure what AoC is, but if you're expecting something better than Oblivion on max, good luck. When GW1 came out, graphically, it was very far behind it's time, even on release.
When you compare GW1 and Battlefield2, which came out at relatively the same time, maybe off by 3 months or so, BF2 was infinitely further along graphically. Even stuff like WoW with its cartoony-ness, is very far and above GW graphically. I hate the cartoon graphics, but it is superior to GW1.

/signed, but only if an on/off switch is implemented. Agree with and good call by Phoenix Tears on how the meteor shower should belong in earth attribute due to the lack of effects.
